Villagers in Nangi traditionally practice shamanism or animism, worshiping gods, goddesses and spirits in the local surroundings.

By official record of the government we are Hindus. We observe some of the major festivals of Hindu religion such as Dashain and Tihar. However, our main religion is shamanism and animism according to our history.

We still observe many shamanistics and animistic practices, and shamans are our traditional doctors and healers. We must ask them for help when we become sick because we don't have any medical clinics in our village. Some of the shamans use some herbs but most of them perform rituals to heal our illness. Shamans ask us to sacrifice animals to different local deities to be cured from illness.

We worship many local gods in our village. This is related to animism. We have goddess of the forest, god of the cliff, god of the cave, god of the spring, goddess of illness and many others. However, our main god is Karpakeli, the ancestral god of our tribe.
