I first came to Nangi twelve years ago, after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I taught English at Himanchal High School for an academic year, from the fall of 2000 to the spring of 2001, before the advent of the wireless network, the health clinic, or much new construction, and I am thrilled to see all of the continuing progress and development.

I graduated from Yale University in 2011 with a Ph. D. in English and Renaissance Studies, and I have also studied at UNC, the Sorbonne, and Oxford. I have taught English, creative writing, and “Great Books” at Yale, Providence College, and Deep Springs College, and I am currently Assistant Professor of English at the United States Military Academy at West Point, as well as an Artist-in-Residence at Cornell University. My original musical, Broken Chains, premiered in New Haven in 2011 as a collaboration between the Yale School of Music, the Shubert Theatre, and a public magnet high school in New Haven, specializing in performing arts. With John D. Cox of Hope College, I am currently co-editing an anthology, Shakespeare and Renaissance Ethics, featuring essays by scholars from the US, UK, Europe, and Australia.
